In 1983, he embarked on his career by joining Def Jam Records as Vice-president. After a two-year tenure, he left the company and went on to establish his own label called Uptown Records. In 1988, MCA Music Entertainment Group extended a label deal to him, recognizing his talent and success. Throughout 1992, he achieved numerous triumphs with his releases, leading MCA to offer him a multimedia deal, encompassing film and television productions.

In 1994, he gained prominence by appearing in the successful police drama series “New York Undercover” on FOX, which remained on air until 1998. Subsequently, he rebranded his record label as Uptown Enterprises. His music was later included in projects for Universal Pictures and Universal Television. From 1995 to 1997, Andre served as the CEO of Motown Records.

In addition, he took on the role of hosting Champagne & Bubbles on Sunday evenings at Emmis Urban AC WRKS.
