Buono began her acting career in theater and got her first role on television in the NBC drama series “Dream Street.” She made her film debut in 1992 in the British mystery movie “Waterland,” directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal. She also appeared in the sports drama “Gladiator,” which starred Cuba Gooding Jr.
