Joe Biden was the 47th Vice President of the United States, serving from 2009 to 2019. He is considered one of the longest-serving politicians in U.S. history due to his extensive experience and age.
While he was Vice President, he played a key role in passing important laws like the Job Creation Act of 2010, the Budget Control Act of 2011, and the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. When President Obama was re-elected in 2012, Joe Biden was chosen again to be Vice President for a second term. Before this, he had a long career as an attorney and a senator. Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was born on November 20, 1942. His parents were Joseph Robinette Biden Sr. and Catherine Eugenia Biden. He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and grew up there with his three younger siblings.
For his early education, Joe Biden attended Archmere Academy. While there, he was part of the school’s football team and played the position of halfback. After finishing high school, he went to the University of Delaware, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History. Before entering politics, he began his career as a lawyer in 1968 at a law firm in Wilmington. Later, he ran for a seat on the New Castle County Council, won the position, and served for two years.
In 1972, he won the U.S. Senate election in Delaware, defeating his major opponents. He became well-known and was sworn in by the Secretary of the Senate, Francis R. Valeo, in 1973. From 2001 to 2009, he served as the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
He ran in the 2008 U.S. presidential elections, competing against Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. After losing to Obama, he was elected as the U.S. Vice President.
