Richard was first introduced to the world of crime by Terrence Bell, engaging in small-scale burglaries under Bell’s guidance. In 1984, Richard reached out to the FBI, resulting in agents visiting his residence and presenting him with photographs of the Curry brothers and their associates.
Recognizing them, Wershe Jr, at the tender age of 14, decided to become an informant for the FBI. He leveraged his knowledge and began earning money by sharing valuable information with FBI agents. Following the downfall of the Curry brothers and the conclusion of his collaboration with the FBI, Wershe Jr made a fateful choice to enter the world of drug dealing. He established connections with Art Derrick, a cocaine supplier based in Miami, from whom he procured his illicit merchandise.
He actively contributed to Operation Backbone, a crucial FBI operation that led to the apprehension of numerous corrupt Detroit police officers.
